Introduction to Lessons in Whispers

Maybe a quiet moment, a movement in nature, or a distant noise echoes a lesson.  I greatly enjoy new perspectives and often find spiritual perspective in the little things.  It reminds me of a story in scriptures where the Prophet Elijah is about to meet with the Lord, as a fire, earthquake, and other loud and great events pass.   Elijah does not find the Lord in any of those things.  Instead he finds his Lord in a whisper.

I can look out my window in the morning, where my blinds are never fully lowered, and find some little parallel to the bible, Christian journey, or just some little realization about life.  To begin, slipping out of bed the other day, I sat at the window for a short time and stared off into the sparkles in the powdered snow.  I was amazed at how the brilliant white was so illuminate and seemed to brighten the outdoors so much, even with the gray clouds hovering overhead and no sun.

The illuminating effect of the snow in its surrounding reminded me of the life of a true believer.  One who is of the Spirit has the light of the world, who is Christ Jesus, in them and as they are made more and more like Him, they shine brighter and brighter.  They can be seen like a beacon in the darker shades of the world.
